Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend!
We braved the crowds of Oxford Street this Saturday for a spree of shopping and knew we wanted a relaxed spot of lunch.
Gigi's Mayfair restaurant is just a few minutes away from Bond Street station, tucked away in a little side alley.
I really like the decor at Gigi's, sophisticated and elegant without being stuffy.
The bread basket arrived with Sardinian bread, spicy grissini (bread sticks) and little rolls flavoured with squid ink and parsley. One of the best bread baskets I had.
Soon after came the starters. I went for the slated baked root vegetables with ricotta cheese. Which not only was beautifully presented but also very tasty.
My boyfriend went for the roasted octopus with a rich onion broth and
barlotti beans. The octopus was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The soft
beans and the broth made for a perfect winter warmer.
As a main we went for the Tagliolini Tartufo.
The homemade pasta came in a rich and creamy sauce and the black truffle shavings added a zingy flavor to the dish. I really love my pasta and this dish was just amazing.
And finally for dessert we went for the Chocolate Mondrian and their signature Tiramisu.
Both desserts were beautifully presented. The Chocolate Mondrian's base was a lovely chocolate sponge topped with a thin layer of milk chocolate crust, caramel and white chocolate bars.
The Tiramisu was served in a very unique, deconstructed way.
All ingredients were separately stacked on the plate and when each element
was piled on to my fork it made the perfect combination.
We thought the food at Gigi's was delicious and very innovative and we will certainly be back. So next time you need a break from London's hustle and bustle, take a little detour to this hidden gem.
It also makes for the perfect venue for Valentines Day.
